Joe Biden is the 47th Vice President of the United States. Born November 2, 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden moved to Delaware at the age of 10. He attended the University of Delaware where he excelled in sports and socializing. Though in the bottom fifth of his class, Biden’s leadership and personality allowed him to continue to be successful. He earned a law degree and began to practice in 1969. While struggling to find a balance between interest and desired pay in law, he began to turn his sights to politics. Biden won his first attempt at Senate in an incomparable fashion. Without resources and a campaign run primarily by close family and friends, Biden defeated the long standing Republican candidate. Biden would go on to win 6 consecutive elections and become the longest serving Senator in Delaware’s history. Biden would continue involvement in Delaware state issues and addition to being a member of the Foreign Relations Committee. In 2008 he was chosen by Presidential candidate Barack Obama and was elected into office that year. Biden’s legacy as Vice President is yet to be set, seeing as it is still in progress, but his role is characterized by his ability to question assumptions and play a contrarian role when discussing important issuse and policies.
