Celebrating Easter: Edible Easter Necklace
This is an adorable activity to use with young children. It uses the marshmallow peeps that can be found in most stores this time of year in the Easter candy section.
This necklace is completely edible if you use licorice for the string. If you can't, use fishing line and not yarn. Yarn leaves fibers in the marshmallows as they are being strung. Fishing line works much better for this purpose.
Directions:
All you need is strawberry or black shoestring licorice, Marshmallow Bunnies, cereal with holes such as Cheerios or Fruit Loops, small cocktail pretzels, or any other kind of stringable food like Life Saver candies and Gummi Bears.
Using a skewer or other sharp instrument (an adult should help here), poke holes throughout the sides of the ears of the Bunnies or through the middle of the chicken shaped Peeps.
From here, children can string together many different designs with the stringable food. The necklaces can be tied behind the neck.
These rarely last long enough to be worn for any length of time, but if you want to store them, you can use zippered storage bags.
