Home Ec Project: Homemade Spice Blends
Here is a lesson in frugality. Instead of buying premade spice blends to stock your pantry, make your own!
Make and try one or more of these.
Pumpkin Pie Spice
4 Tablespoons cinnamon
2 Tablespoons ginger
1 Tablespoon allspice
Mix together and store in an airtight container
Seasoned Salt
2 Tablespoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cornstarch
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Store in an airtight container
Taco seasoning mix
1 T. Chili powder
2 t. Onion powder
1 t. Ground cumin
1 t. Garlic powder
1 t. Paprika
1 t. Dried oregano
1 t. Sugar
1/2 t. Salt
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Equal to one 1-1/4 oz. commercial package.
