Home Ec: Almond Butter Brickle

This yummy candy is a real winner! If you leave in in larger chunks it can be eaten alone, or break it into smaller pieces and use it as an ice cream topping, in place of chocolate chips in cookie mixes, and more.

Ingredients:

1 cup butter
1-1/2 cups light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 cups almonds, slivered
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips


Directions:

Prepare pan (13 by 9 inches), greasing well. Cook butter and brown sugar over medium heat in a skillet, stirring constantly until sugar has completely melted (about 2 or 3 minutes).

Add almonds. Continue stirring until almonds just begin to brown at the edges (another 2 to 3 minutes).

Pour out of skillet into pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot mixture. As they melt, spread chocolate evenly over the top of the brickle.

Chill until chocolate is firm (about 20 minutes). Break into pieces.
