Fun Food: Gelatin Slushies
Mmmmm -- here's a yummy treat for the kids to make themselves. Only three ingredients and you can even control the sugar content by using sugar-free gelatin and sugar-free ginger ale.
Fun Ingredients:
1 package (4 serving size) flavored gelatin (such as Jell-O brand gelatin)
1 cup boiling water
2 cups ginger ale
Fun Directions:
1. Dissolve the flavored gelatin dessert, flavor is your choice, in boiling water.
2. Add ginger ale and pour into an eight-inch square pan. Freeze until firm. This will take about four hours or overnight.
3. To serve, use an ice cream scoop to fill serving dishes, paper cups or ice cream cones. Serve immediately.
Yield: approximately 4 servings.
Variations:
You can make a bunch of different varieties of this fun food by using different flavors of gelatin dessert and different flavors of carbonated beverage. For instance, how about a nice cherry gelatin with a Coca-cola carbonated beverage; or, lemon-lime gelatin dessert and a lemon-lime carbonated beverage. Another two combinations that we’ve tried is orange dessert beverage and orange soda; and, strawberry dessert gelatin and strawberry soda.
