Fun Food: Everything Bars

Here's a fun way to incorporate some measuring and counting skills into your math lessons. Its such as simple activity that even little ones can enjoy it.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter or margarine
32 large marshmallows or 3 cups miniature marshmallows
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup instant non-fat dry milk
1/4 cup orange-flavored instant breakfast drink mix (e.g., Tang)
1 cup raisins
4 cups toasted oat cereal (e.g., Cheerios)

Directions:

1. Grease baking pan with some butter or margarine.

2. Heat 1/2 cup butter and 32 large marshmallows (or 3 cups of miniature marshmallows) in a saucepan over low heat until marshmallows melt, stirring constantly. Stir in the peanut butter, the dry milk, adn the orange breakfast drink mix. Remove from heat.

3. Stir in one cup of raisins and 4 cups of toasted oat cereal until thoroughly coated. Empty this mixture into the buttered pan. Rub a little butter or margarine on the back of a spoon and use it to pat the mixture evenly in the pan.

4. Cool. Cut into bars about 3 inches long and 1 inch long.

Good and yummy!!!
