Homemade Gifts:
Apple-and-Orange Cider Drink Mix

This is a fun and easy homemade gift for the children to make. You can put the mix in unusual containers, such as clear plastic or glass Christmas balls/ornaments tied with ribbon to make them even more interesting and fun to give.

Ingredients:

1 box (7.4 oz.) dry apple cider mix (box will have about 10 packets of cider mix)

1 cup Tang (orange-flavored instant breakfast mix)

1 cup sugar

1 box (3 ounces) sparkling white grape gelatin (Jell-O brand gelatin sometimes has this flavor available. If you are unable to find that flavor, you can substitute lemon or orange flavor instead. You may also substitute sugar-free variety.)

Directions:

In a medium bowl, combine the apple cider mix, the Tang, sugar, and Jell-O. Stir until combined. Store in an airtight container. Give with serving instructions.

Yield: approximately 3 cups of drink mix

Serving Instructions: Pour 6 ounces of boiling water over one or two tablespoons of the cider mix. Stir until well blended.
