Pumpkin Pie Spice Decorations
These make great seasonal decorations. They have a lovely color and the kids really enjoy working with something so different. Remind people that these are non-edible decorations as the smell may fool them.
Supplies:
3/4 cup ground cinnamon
1/4 cup ground nutmeg
1 t. ground ginger
5 T. white glue
3/4 cup water
extra cinnamon for dusting surface
appropriately shaped cookie cutter(s)
Directions:
1. Combine the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and glue in a mixing bowl.
2. Add enough water to make a stiff dough.
3. Refrigerate for approximately three hours.
4. Sprinkle some of the extra cinnamon on the rolling surface and place dough onto it.
5. Knead the dough until is it pliable. Roll the dough to a 1/4 inch thickness.
6. Use the cookie cutter(s) to cut out the dough. Use a straw to cut a hole for hanging if you desire. Lay shapes on waxed paper to dry.
7. Flip the shapes over twice a day for one week. You need to do this for even drying and to prevent them from possibly curling at the edges.
