Celebrating Independence Day: Pretzel Sparklers
This is a fun snack that even your youngest can help to make. As you are making these you could discuss fireworks safety, the symbolism of fireworks and the colors red, white, and blue; and, you could discuss the meaning of Independence Day itself. These make great party favors.
Pretzel Sparklers
Ingredients:
long rod pretzels
white chocolate, melted
sprinkles (red, white and blue) or star cake decorations
Directions:
1. Melt the white chocolate.
2. Dip the pretzel rod halfway into the melted chocolate then sprinkle the sprinkles over the wet chocolate.
3. Lay on waxed paper or place in a cup to dry.
A fun variation on this would be to use red or blue candy melts (e.g., Wilton’s is one brand) which can usually be found in the cake decorating aisle of your local craft store.
