Food Fun: Twinkie Split
Even junk food can be turned into a learning opportunity. It’s a chance for the child to develop motor skills, measuring skills, explore fractions, and other ways to make math fun.
Ingredients:
1 box Twinkies (or Devil Dogs)
2 or 3 scoops of Ice Cream for each "split"
1 tub Cool Whip
1 jar maple walnut sundae topping
Toppings Options: chocolate syrup, strawberries, maraschino cherries, chocolate sprinkles, or walnuts
Directions:
1. Split Twinkie in half lengthwise and lay it on a dessert plate.
2. Add three scoops of Ice Cream (your choice of flavors) on top of split Twinkie.
3. Top with Cool Whip on each mound.
4. To top off the sundae, drizzle chocolate syrup and maple walnut sundae topping, along with your choice.
5. Serve.
