Orange Custard Ice Cream

In honor of July being National Ice Cream Month, today's flavor is "Orange Custard Ice Cream". This is a delicious flavor!!

Ingredients:

2 c. sugar
1 c. water
3 c. fresh orange juice
2 c. half-and-half
2 egg yolks

Directions:

1. Boil sugar and water for about five minutes, stirring constantly, to form a thick syrup.

2. Add orange juice to hot syrup and set aside.

3. Mix one cup half-and-half with the egg yolks and cook very slowly without boiling until the whole thing turns lumpy -- about 20 minutes. DO NOT BOIL!

4. Cool, and then ad orange syrup and the remaining half-and-half. Stir well.

5. Chill, crank, and freeze.
