Homemade Gifts: Fire Starters
Homemade gifts are from the heart. Help your children to make these fun fire starters. They work both indoors and out. They are especially fun to take on a camping trip!
Supplies:
Pine cones
Sawdust
Wax (old candle stubs or paraffin)
Color (table salt for yellow, No-salt substitute for violet,
borax for green)
Directions:
1. Add color ingredient of choice to the sawdust.
2. Melt wax in a double boiler and not directly on the stove as the heated wax may ignite.
3. Dip the pine cones in melted wax, then roll in prepared sawdust.
4. Group firestarters in a decorated basket or other decorative container to give as gifts.
