Making homeschooling more enjoyable for both child and parent!
|
Free Curriculum Links
Even though I’ve been homeschooling for seven years doesn’t mean I have all the materials that I want to have. I’m always open to looking at new resources and curriculums. I volunteer to edit other people’s work. I hit the used book sales. I’ve beta tested new programs. I won’t turn my nose up at a yard sale either. I also design my own curriculum resources and unit studies. Can you tell yet that I’m budget conscious?
One thing that I really enjoy taking advantage of is free resources that are available via the internet or by submitting a short form. In fact, hardly a day goes by that I don’t get something in the mail … even if it is just a flyer.
Below are some links that I’ve used myself or recently become aware of by being on some of the homeschooling lists at yahoo.com.
First, let me say that a good place for “free” info is the homeschool e-lists at places like Yahooand/or Topica. Just be aware that you need to read the description of the list before joining. Some e-lists are inclusive, some are not, and some say they are but do not operate in that manner. Some e-lists allow off-topic discussions, many do not; some have rules against attachments and other operate almost exclusively with this type of information. Several of the e-lists that I am on have some very, very helpful folks that will help you search out information that you need. Consider joining one or two of these e-lists for support, encouragement, advice, and/or information. [Please note: If email volume is a concern for you, both Yahoo and Topica allow you to set e-lists to either single message, digest mode, or read-only. Single message means that you get all posts to the e-list as a single message. Digest mode means that messages are sent to you in groups of up to about 25. Read-only means that you read the e-lists posts by going to the e-list homepage and checking the archives … if there is one.]
