Instant Rice Paste

I have children in my Sunday School and homeschool group with different allergies. Since this breaks down mainly into a starch with an antiseptic added in, I've never had any one of the kids have a rash from it.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup instant rice (has to be instant, not regular)
1 cup water
1/4 cup warm water
1 teaspoon of some kind of liquid antiseptic (such as Bactine or antiseptic mouth wash)*
blender

Directions:

1. Put instant rice in a bowl. Pour in the half cups of water and let set overnight.

2. Pour the rice mixture into an electric blender and add the quarter cup of warm water. Use the liquify level and blend for five minutes. Do not under mix this stuff or it will be lumpy and yucky.

3. Pour the liquid mixture from the blender into a saucepan and add another half cup of water. Warm for five minutes, stirring constantly. You will need to stir this or you'll have even worse lumps. Think of it as a gravy.

4. Remove the mixture from heat. After it cools, add the antiseptic to prevent the mixture from spoiling and getting really disgusting.

Yield: this makes approximately half a cup of paste.

*I've used Listerine mouth wash before. I've also used liquid Lysol...but the Lysol gives it a very strong smell and funky color.

This paste also makes a good base for finger paints...just add liquid food coloring.

Store in an old babyfood jar and lid.
