What Is Calculus?

Calculus was first originated from describing physical properties of the universe and molecules. It further approaches into the objects in motion such as curves. Also, the functions from calculus help calculate the objects’ rate of change, area, or volume. Not only that, you can find out the objects’ velocity or surface area using calculus. With calculus, you can find the approximations of answers that lead to find the exact answer. You can approximate a curve, a solid or a surface using a tool called limit. Limit can then help you accurately describe and reproduce that approximate curve, solid or surface. There are two types of calculus: differential and integral. Differential calculus helps you find the rate of change using derivative and integral calculus, which helps you find the given values that describe the system's input.

Calculus is generally introduced to students in 11th or 12th grade. The students whom excel in calculus are often very solid math students who can perform well on the math portion of the SAT.
