Harry S. Truman was the 33rd President of the United States of America. He was FDR's vice president and finished out his 4th term and then was re-elected in 1949 for a second term of his own.

"Harry Truman was a simple man. He liked being a Senator from Missouri and never wanted to be president. But, he made a name for himself as chairman of a committee that saved taxpayers millions of dollars during World War II.

Truman had such bad eyesight that he didn't play sports when he was a boy. He played the piano instead. He played so well that he dreamed of becoming a concert pianist. He never followed his dream because he had to help his father trade mules and farm.

Truman ended World War Two in 1945 by allowing the atomic bomb to be used. In 1950, the USA again came to war when Truman sent troops to South Korea to fight an invasion by a Communist army from the north."
