The Simple Basics of Geometry

Geometry is a branch of mathematics that study shape and position of 2 and 3 dimensional shape figures. It is found everywhere, from art to spaces and machines. The most basic terms in geometry are lines, planes and shapes. There are line and line segments. Line does not have endpoints, so it is impossible to measure the length, but the line segments have endpoints so it is possible to measure the length. Planes are two-dimensional, that has length and width. It is thought as a flat surface. Space is set of all points and infinite number of planes. With these basic terms and more, you can utilize geometry and find measure of shapes and positions.

Geometry is of the utmost importance as it is found on many standardized tests. The SAT covers Geometry and even the GMAT, which is a test business schools favor, utilize geometry. So while some of the principles learned in Geometry might not seem to have relevance in the real world, they will have relevance on important standardized tests that children will eventually have to take if they want to continue their education into college and beyond.
