Ronald Reagan was the 40th President of the United States of America. He was born on 6 February 1911 in Tampico, Illinois. He was the oldest the oldest man ever elected President. He was 69 years old.

"Ronald Reagan was a very charismatic person. He was called "The Great Communicator" because he could speak well and could make people feel good. Even though there were big economic problems and political scandals during his Presidency, people believed him when he talked about the country's promise. This helped make Reagan one of the most popular Presidents in history.

In March of 1981, Reagan was nearly assassinated when a mentally ill man named John Hinckly Jr. shot him in the chest. Reagan made a full recovery despite the seriousness of the wounds, and would later quip "I just forgot to duck."

Also in 1981, Reagan was the first President to nominate a woman as Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court. Her name was Sandra Day O'Connor.

Reagan led an eventful and colorful life. He is now retired and living on his ranch in California where he and his family deal with his Alzheimer's. Disease. By being honest and candid about his condition early on, there is greater public awareness than ever about this tragic and deginerative brain disease.
