Fall Fun: Pass the Pumpkin
Here's a fun game that multiple ages can play. Its sort of like the game "hot potato" but with more postive reinforcement rather than simply being put "out".
Pass The Pumpkin
Have the kids sit in a circle. Provide a plastic pumpkin, or some other "pumpkin" type item, for children to pass while someone beats on a drum or while music plays. Children pass the pumpkin to the tempo of the music. Alternate between fast and slow drum beats or between up tempo and slow music. When the music stops the child who has the pumpkin stands -- or jumps depending on enthusiam level -- and takes a bow. Continue for as long as the children are interested or until all participants have had a chance to take a bow.
A variation on this theme would be to use another object and call it "Pass the [object name here]" and/or when a child is the one hold the item at the end of the music and they stand to bow, have them say something. It could be the title of their favorite book, their favorite color, the name of their pet, their favorite sport, a memory verse, etc.
