Bread Machine: Christopsomo
(Greek Christmas Bread)

This is a real treat... make a traditional Greek Christmas bread and study international Christmas traditions at the same time. Always be sure and list the ingredients on homemade, edible gifts so that the person receiving it can check for food allergies and sensitivies before they take the first bite.

Ingredients are for a 1-pound loaf.

Cycle: white, sweet
Setting: light to medium

Ingredients:

1 t. active dry yeast
2 chopped candied cherries (yes, just take two)
2 t. chopped walnuts
2 1/4 cup bread flour
1/2 t. anise seed
1/2 t. salt
5 T. sugar
1 egg
2 oz. warm water
3 1/2 T. butter
3 oz. warm milk

Note: I use a special little "ounce" measurer that I picked up from a kitchen gadget store as I went through a stage of converting some European recipes that were given to me from metric to US standard measurements. You could also use a shot glass if you know the capacity or if it is marked in increments.

Follow your machine's directions, placing ingredients in the machine in the proper order. Set your cycle and setting and process per owner's manual.
